J. Steven Anderson

J. Steven Anderson first joined the firm in 1983. His practice is centered exclusively in the area of divorce, post-divorce modification and enforcement, alimony, child support and custody, and premarital agreements. Mr. Anderson’s goal is to make certain that the clients understand their rights regarding property and parenting issues in any domestic matter. Mr. Anderson concentrates on negotiation and/or mediation of disputed issues. However, when a trial is required, he prepares thoroughly and moves swiftly toward a final and favorable resolution on behalf of the client. He has completed Mediation Training with an emphasis on Family Law Mediation.

Mr. Anderson has presided as Special Judge in the General Sessions and Chancery Courts of Shelby County, Tennessee. He has served as Past President of Germantown-Nonconnah Exchange Club, as a member of the Enhanced Child Support Enforcement Committee for the Tennessee Department of Human Services and as member of the Board of Trustees for Woodland Presbyterian School.

Mr. Anderson has lectured on various topics related to Family Law at seminars presented by Barrister’s Educational Services and Sterling Education System. He has written and lectured for the following National Business Institute Seminars: “Overview and Background of Prenuptial Agreements,” Drafting and Litigating Prenuptial Agreements in Tennessee, 1998; “Determining and Dividing Marital Assets,” Domestic Law in Tennessee, 1999; “Premarital Agreements and Divorce Procedure,” Domestic Law in Tennessee, 2000; “Litigating and Enforceability of Premarital Agreements,” Family Law Litigation in Tennessee, 2001, 2003; and “Child Custody and Support,” Complex Issues in Divorce for the Tennessee Practitioner, 2002, 2004.

Mr. Anderson is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lambuth College in 1980. He received his Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from the University of Memphis in 1983.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the Memphis and Shelby County Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He is a member of the Family Law Section of both Bar Associations and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section for the Tennessee Bar Association.
